Chelsea Old Town Hall Wedding Photography

Chelsea Old Town Hall Wedding Photographer

Finally, I found a bit of time to post this awesome Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding I photographed on a beautiful Summer’s day in London. When the bride and groom on the day called me beforehand and asked whether I would like to be their Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding photographer at the Kensington and Chelsea Reister Office, the answer could only be one-of course!

I love wedding photography at the Chelsea Old Town Hall, it is such a beautiful building and it’s location couldn’t be more perfect. Just ideal for anyone who would like to get married in central London. I photographed many small to medium size weddings at this beautiful London wedding venue, and always love coming back.

Chelsea Old Town Hall by London Wedding Photographer

I love shooting weddings in and around London. I think it must be one of the most beautiful and iconic cities in the world! It always makes for a gorgeous backdrop to wedding photos, whether that is around iconic London landmarks or just walking through London’s streets and parks.

Chelsea Old Town Hall Wedding Photos

My approach to being the Old Chelsea Town Hall Photographer is simple. I let the bride and groom and their wedding guests enjoy their wedding day and I simply document it for them. We create a full story of the wedding day through a series of beautiful photographs. All in a documentary style, but of course making time for official group photos as well as the photos of the bride and groom.

If you are getting married in London and are on a lookout for a wedding photographer to document your wedding day in a natural, relaxed and beautiful way, then please get in touch!

Here is a selection of wedding photos from this recent Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding, enjoy!

Chelsea Old Town Hall-an Iconic London Register Office

Chelsea Old Town Hall is such a great choice if one wants to tie the knot in central London and wishes to create beautiful wedding photography in London.

The beautiful Grade II listed, late Victorian building is so beautiful, with its impressive facade and gorgeous steps walking out right onto the famous King’s Road in Chelsea. These are just perfect for the confetti shot as well as a few official group photos after the ceremony. Right outside its door, it’s the typical business and traffic of central London, with so many upmarket shops and high-quality pubs and restaurants. Many of them perfect to organise the wedding dinner right after the wedding ceremony at the Chelsea Register Office.

A few of them I would highly recommend that I photographed weddings at is the Ivy and the Bluebird. It’s at the Bluebird that the bride and groom of this wedding hosted their wedding dinner for the closest family and friends. It took place in the Bluebird’s function room overlooking the main restaurant giving a lovely view as well as lots of privacy for the wedding party.

I have to admit that inside the Old Chelsea Town Hall is just as impressive as on the outside. Especially after it was renovated now at the beginning of 2019. The beautiful Marble columns, high vaulted ornate ceilings and dark wood panelled walls.

All of this gives this London wedding venue and register office an atmosphere of grandeur and sophistication. Such a nice backdrop for

Chelsea Old Town Hall Wedding F.A.Q.s

Why should I choose to get married at the Chelsea Old Town Hall?

The first reason would be because of its central London location which is so hard to beat.

Then it is just such an iconic building with so much history to it. Many famous people throughout the 20th Century have wed there:  Judy Garland, Pierce Brosnan and glam rock icon Marc Bolan all had their nuptials there.  Richard Burton and Hugh Grant are two other big names to tie the knot at Chelsea.

The surroundings of the town hall are also perfect for wedding photography right after the ceremony, with beautiful streets and parks just around the corner with stunning greenery and London architecture.

Lastly, the interiors themselves as well as the most helpful staff of the Chelsea Old Town Hall will make anyone’s experience there unforgettable.

How long before the ceremony should we arrive?

30 minutes is a good amount of time in case of heavy traffic and to also leave enough time for the interviews with the registrars for the bride and groom to be.

Is confetti allowed?

Yes! It is allowed just outside the main front door of the Chelsea Old Town Hall, right on the steps. Which is a perfect place for it. It is not allowed inside of the Town Hall.

Is the Chelsea Old Town Hall good for wedding photography?

Yes! Its beautiful and iconic exteriors and interiors are just perfect backdrops for wedding photography on the wedding day.

Are there any places nearby for good couple photos after the ceremony?

Yes! There is a great choice of places that are great for wedding couple photos. From streets of Kensington and Chelsea to nearby parks and the river Thames is just a stone’s throw away. there are a few ‘secret’ spots I’m always happy to take my couples for photos that are just perfect for it!

London Wedding Day at the Shard, Chelsea Old Town Hall and the London Grind

The wedding of Chloe and Jonny was almost as London as a wedding can be. We covered so many different London Landmarks as locations and backdrops for our photos. It was such a great day!

The getting ready wedding photography started at the Shard. Until not so long ago the highest building in Europe, and still the highest one in the UK. As soon as I went into the room I saw the stunning views over the whole of London. With river ThamesTower Bridge and London Bridge Station all below us.

After a few photos off we were to the Chelsea Old Town Hall for the wedding ceremony in the Chelsea Register Office Brydon Room. The father and mother of the bride and groom were already there, as well as more family members and close friends.

The vows were beautiful and after the exchange of the rings and the first kiss we had the confetti shot outside as well as a few semi-formal group photos on the Chelsea Old Town Hall steps.

Then we whisked off to the nearby Albert Bridge for a couple of photos with the bride and groom. It was so much fun to photograph those two simply being themselves! From the bridge, we went to Battersea Park for more photos. It must be one of my favourite parks in London to take wedding pictures, right by the river Thames.

After the park, we drove to Tower Bridge to get a photo with the bridge being up. Such a great photo moment for the happy couple.

We finished the wedding day photography almost where we started, by the London Bridge Station. That’s where the evening party took place, right by the bridge, at the London Grind.

So we took a few photos of the speeches, the first dance at the cake cutting (awesome cheese board!).

The evening finished with a lot of crazy moves on the dancefloor, what a crazy and beautiful day it was.

Thank you Chloe and Jonny, for letting Blue Lily Weddings document your awesome London wedding!
