Alternative Wedding Photographer London

I love being a London alternative wedding photographer! Its so much fun photographing weddings that are a bit different from your standard wedding setup. Weddings that are a bit different, more hip and edgy but still focused on what's most important in all this, the love and connection between two people tying the knot as well as their family and friends!

It just makes it so much more special when the bride and groom want to organise their wedding day in more original and true to themselves way.

It's weddings like this that have more personality in them, reflecting who the newlyweds are and what they like and represent.

And what better way city to organise a wedding like that in than London. London has just so much to offer for anyone looking to organise a more alternative wedding or looking for an alternative wedding photographer.

Especially a little bit outside of central London, where old canals and industrial areas are being refurbished and modernised. That in result makes them trendy ann desirable often creating a perfect for anyone looking to plan a wedding that is slightly different and more personal.

Fun, edgy and a bit different Wedding Photography London

Here are a few of my favourite wedding photos from the day. Thank you so much, Fang and Jamie, for letting me document your awesome alternative London wedding. You rocked it guys!

Stratford Wedding Photographer

Last summer's awesome wedding of Fang and Jamie in Stratford in East London was just a perfect example of that. When the bride and groom to be got in touch with me asking whether I'd be interested in photographing a bit more alternative London wedding the answer could only be one: hell yea!

And what a great and different wedding it was! Just perfect to blow a bit of freshness to my London wedding photography portfolio.

The whole day took place on a barge on one of East London canals in Hackney Wick called Barge East. The post-industrial area is now so full of life with new projects sprouting all around, from Olimpic village stadiums to new blocks of flats right by the water.

Barge East Wedding

The whole wedding day photography on and around Barge East was just perfect. The bride and groom to be both started early preparing the wedding venue for the day with a help of a few wedding guests.

All the wedding decorations were full of personal touches, the balloons, the flowers and also the cake.

The bride's outfit was also more on a non-traditional side. Instead of a typical wedding dress, she wore a two-piece outfit with awesome pants, wide enough to look like a dress anyway!

The wedding ceremony took place on a lawn nearby, right by the canal, with people and barges passing bay and waving to the newlyweds. The wedding day weather was nice and crisp, and also quite windy. Just perfect for a wind swept hair in the wedding photos.

Most of the wedding day like drinks reception, first dance, wedding breakfast and cake cutting took place on the Barge East itself. Luckily we did manage to sneak out for a few photos with the bride and groom in the area. It was great using the canal as well as local art and architecture as a backdrop to the love and connection between Fang and Jamie.

Oh, and we even managed to borrow a canoe fro next-door neighbour Moo Canoes for a few photos of the newlyweds canoeing through the canal (with a close encounter with a massive barge too!).

Northbrook Park Wedding

'THANK YOU SO MUCH! We cannot thank you enough for the beautiful photos! Kunal and I loved all of them! You did a wonderful job of capturing not only the love and fun of the whole day but everyone who attended!'

Northbrook Park Wedding Photographer

As a Surrey wedding photographer, I love photographing weddings at Northbrook Park. And the last wedding of Vita and Kunal at this beautiful wedding venue was no exception.

Northbrook Park is such a beautiful place to get married if you are looking to tie the knot in Surrey. It has some beautiful grounds with lots of greenery and a gorgeous lake. As well as a great choice of rooms for getting ready before the wedding as well as for the wedding ceremony and reception and wedding breakfast.

This grade II listed 18th-century manor house is perfectly situated just a short drive away from London and it has a capacity to host weddings for up to 250 guests.

Photographing a wedding at Northbrook Park is a true joy for a wedding photographer. The grounds make for a perfect photography backdrop all year round. The gardens always look beautiful are gorgeously landscaped. The rooms are light and spacious letting lots of natural light in which is great for the wedding portraits and photos of wedding details as well.

Documentary Wedding Photography Surrey

I approached photographing this recent western/Indian wedding at Northbrook Park in Surrey in my signature Blue Lily Weddings style. The main focus was on capturing the bride and groom in beautiful light as they enjoyed their wedding day with their families and friends.

The goal was as always to create a set of beautiful photographs documenting the story of the wedding day. The set of photos that will make anyone looking through them feel as if they were there. Bringing all the love, joy and fun of the wedding day back to life.

Nothing staged - just pure emotional storytelling!

Northbrook Park Indian Wedding

I love photographing Indian weddings or weddings with elements of Indian tradition in them. Just recently this year I photographed an absolutely beautiful wedding in Delhi in India and enjoy the experience so much. The old and rich traditions, the beautiful colours, the focus on family and connection as well as delicious Indian food-my favourite cuisine!

One of the things I loved the most about this Northbrook Park Indian-Western wedding is how it combined two different cultures in a beautiful and seamless way. As it can be seen clearly from the photos the wedding had strong elements of Indian tradition like wedding ceremony and delicious food. As well as more traditional western elements like white wedding dress worn by the bride and a wedding suit worn by the groom for the second part of the wedding celebrations.

Surrey Wedding Photographer

The whole wedding day celebrations at Northbrook Park were such a joy to photograph. As I met the bride and groom for the day before, I knew it will be a relaxed day full of love and laughter and many beautiful traditions.

Vita decided to book me as their wedding photographer after she saw the photos I took of her friend's pre-wedding shoot. We also did an engagement photo shoot prior to the wedding day with her and Kunal.  Then we had a chance to get to know each other a bit and create beautiful photographs at the same time. They are such a great couple down to earth, always up for a laugh (Kunal's laughter being very contagious!) and so much in love.

Northbrook Park Wedding Day Photography

We started the Northbrook Park wedding day photography with a few photos of the venue itself as well as the surrounding grounds. It is such a photogenic place with the beautiful fields, ponds and trees surrounding it as well as the ivy climbing up the walls adding another dimension to this stunning Surrey wedding venue. Another great thing is all the duck and peacocks strolling around not bothered by all the wedding activities. As well as the beautiful gardens with statues and colourful blooming flowers.

After a few shots of the wedding venue of I was to take a few photos of the bride getting ready and a few details. I also managed to snap a few shots of Kunal before the ceremony, in great spirit as usual!

The wedding ceremony was based on Indian traditions and was simply beautiful, full of colour, love and laughter. After that, we did the traditional group family photos as well as a few ones with just the bride and groom in them. Starting in the Indian outfits and later on in the white wedding dress and suit.

Next was the cake cutting (check the duck photobombing the shot!) and the traditional Indian wedding dance performances. First by the bride and groom family members and then by their friends. Such a joy for the eyes and ears to witness.

The wedding breakfast Indian food certainly didn't disappoint. It was full of colour and flavour with just the right amount of heat!

The wedding celebrations continued with touching and fun speeches by the father of the bride as well as the groom, followed by the brother of the bride and a few friends adding a few words as well. And so many hugs and kisses after that!

The evening finished for me after catching some dancefloor action with DJ playing a mixture of modern hits and throwing a bit of an Indian vibe to it, a perfect blend!

Thank you, Vita and Kunal for letting me document your beautiful wedding day. A true honour and pleasure and so much fun!

The Lost Orangery at the Euridge Manor Wedding

'Oh my goodness these are absolutely stunning! You’ve managed to capture all the emotion, happiness and drama of the day - thank you so much!'
'Just wanted to say a BIG thank you for capturing so many invaluable moments for us, even the unbelievably obscure ones like my nephew on the trampoline during my speech!'

Euridge Manor Wedding Photographer

Ah, finally I get to blog one of my favourites wedding of the year, the big day of Isabel and Rob at The Lost Orangery at the Euridge Manor in Cotswolds! It was such an honour and pleasure and so much fun to photograph this absolutely beautiful Wiltshire wedding.

Over last ten years I've had a pleasure of photographing over 200 weddings in London, Wiltshire, Cotswolds and all over the UK and abroad. I have seen so many beautiful wedding venues whether they were grand city buildings or impressive country estates or rustic barns.

When it comes to The Lost Orangery at the Euridge Manor, it must be right there at the top of my list. When I saw this stunning Cotswolds wedding venue for the first time I have to admit it took my breath away.

It is truly something out of a fairy tale. Gorgeous architecture, beautifully landscaped gardens and of course the water features. With its breathtaking boat lake with its turquoise green water, white ducks and grotto with columns and arches at the end it looks more like wedding venue somewhere in Italy or in a Disney movie! Especially with the views and the rolling hills all the way to the horizon.

All of this paired with an absolutely stunning bride and groom and good number fun-loving wedding guests created a gorgeous wedding day I will not forget anytime soon!

Cotswolds Wedding Photography

As a Cotswolds wedding photographer, I approached this Euridge Manor Wedding in the typical Blue Lily Weddings style. I photographed things as they unfolded, focusing on those precious moments of love and connection between the happy couple and their close ones. At the same time, I documented the grandeur of the Euridge Manor wedding venue and all the gorgeous surroundings and details so beautifully prepared and arranged by all the wedding team involved.

The bride and groom, as well as their families and wedding guests, created a wedding day filled with love and fun. But don't take my word for it, check the short photo selection from this beautiful Wiltshire wedding below!

Most Beautiful Cotswolds Wedding Venue

Euridge Manor must be one of the most beautiful and unique wedding venues in the whole of the UK. That is clearly visible when looking through the photos from Rob and Isabel's wedding. But even more so when you visit Euridge Manor yourself, taking in all the fairytale beauty of the place.

The Euridge House and Orangery lies right amongst the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, just outside the quintessentially English village of Castle Combe. This exclusive self-catering venue hosts weddings, parties and corporate events.

Euridge Manor wedding venue is surrounded by '450 acres of private grounds, featuring Georgian-style architecture, sparkling water features, evergreen palm trees, a crumbling castle, exquisite topiary, rose gardens, lawns, cloisters, archways, a thatched boat house – and so much more. Ours is a space for escaping the everyday, for celebrating the extraordinary, and for watching the magic unfold.
This is what dreams are made of.'

With all its spaces and rooms available for wedding ceremonies, wedding breakfasts and celebrations, Euridge Manor can host any kind of wedding. From 40 people ceremonies around the cloister to over 200 guests in the ballroom. And up to 300 guests for wedding celebrations in the marquee in the lawns.

Wiltshire Wedding Photographer

I feel so lucky to be able to document so many beautiful weddings in Wiltshire and all around the UK and abroad. This recent one in Euridge Manor in Cotswolds was a great example of what a beautiful wedding should be about. Which is the celebration of the love and connection between the bride and groom and their close ones.

The bride and groom on the day were Isabel and Rob. I knew it is going to be a special day as we met a couple of times before. For the first time was at James and Annie's wedding in Lincolnshire  (which can be found here) where Robs was James's best man. Then we met again at their more intimate London wedding ceremony in the Old Marylebone Town Hall. After that, I was certain they are the kind of wedding couple I most enjoy working with. So much in love and centred around strong family values. And most importantly two super nice people who know how to celebrate their wedding day in style!

Wedding Day at Euridge Manor

We started the photography on the day with a few photos of the wedding venue with the surrounding area, the buildings and all the beautiful details. Then I was off to see the groom and his best man and ushers. So a few photos with the boys and off to see the bride and her bridesmaids. I always spend a bit more time with the girls and it was great those moments of applying the final touches and the build-up before the wedding ceremony.

The wedding ceremony took place around The Euridge Manor boathouse. The wedding guests were situated all around the lake overlooking the ceremony and the beautiful rolling hills of Cotswolds as the backdrop. It was beautiful and touching.

After the ceremony we managed to take a few quick photos of the bride and groom while the guests were lining up for the confetti shot. Then it was time for the drinks reception in the lawns and a few formal groups photos. The bride and groom sure made them fun as the music from the string quartet played softly in the background.

The wedding breakfast took place in the majestic ballroom. The wedding speeches by the father of the bride, the groom and the beat man were just perfect, emotional and full of laughter. Even the father of the groom had his say as the master of the ceremonies!

The wedding day was definitely a windy one and it wasn't easy for the bride and groom to manoeuvre the boat around the turquoise lake fighting the gale. Luckily, everyone managed to stay dry!

The rest of the day went in a joyful atmosphere. The first dance, as well as the party afterwards, were a pleasure to photograph. It was so much fun seeing the groom running the bar and pouring all sorts of liqueurs straight from the bottle into the guest's mouth!

The fire pits and the wood oven pizza kept the wedding guests warm throughout the evening.

Thank you, Rob and Isabel, for letting me document your special day. It was a true honour and pleasure, and so much fun! x

Sopley Mill Wedding Photographer

Sopley Mill is such a great wedding venue. As a Dorset wedding photographer, I enjoyed taking wedding photos there so much. And with the bride and groom being so welcoming on their wedding day I could hardly feel I'm at work!

Wedding Photography Dorset

Being a wedding photographer in Dorset is always a great pleasure. Dorset is one of my favourite counties for wedding photography. It has a beautiful coastline and gorgeous countryside which always make for great backdrops to wedding photos. It also has a good number of beautiful wedding venues. One of them, the Sopley Mill, was our venue for the wedding of Andy and Becky, a super nice and relaxed bride and groom.

Natural Wedding Photography at Sopley Mill

I approached my wedding photography at Sopley Mill in my signature Blue Lily Weddings style. The wedding day was captured in an unobtrusive, documentary style. I let the bride and groom and their wedding guest have fun and enjoy their day. I was there as their wedding photographer to document it in a natural way. No posing or staging, only a bit of guiding during the formal group photos and the bride and groom shots to create a relaxed vibe and make everyone looks their best.

This way we were able to create a set of wedding photos that tells the full story of the wedding day in a beautiful and true way. The goal, as always, was for the bride and groom be transported to those moments feeling as they were there. By looking through those pictures they will be able to relive their wedding day in vivid detail.

Sopley Mill Wedding Venue

Sopley Mill is such a gorgeous wedding venue situated right in the heart of Dorset countryside. It is just perfect for anyone looking to get married in Dorset. It also makes for a great backdrop to wedding photos.

Sopley Mill is a renovated mill, a beautiful red brick building surrounded from both sides by river Avon. The river even runs through it!

As soon as you arrive at Sopley Mill you are surrounded by water meadows stretching all the way to the woods on the horizon. During the wedding there were horses running around wildly through them, just take a look at the photos!

It has quite a few rooms to accommodate the needs of anyone looking to organise small to a middle size wedding.

There is the Avon suite for the bride and her bridesmaids to get ready in. On the middle floor, there is the wedding ceremony room with windows overlooking surrounding Dorset fields. This room is later transformed into a room where the evening party takes place.

The top room, with the best views, is where the wedding breakfast takes place.

The ground floor is with some original old mill features hosts a bar and is great for the drinks reception.

There is also a large lawn area outside where kids could run around and wedding guests played wedding games, always a fun part to photograph at a wedding.

Wedding Photography at the best Dorset Wedding Venue

The bride and groom on the day were Becky and Andy. Together with their wedding guests, they made me feel very welcomed. The atmosphere at the wedding was very relaxed, filled with joy and laughter.

We started photography with a few photos of the wedding venue and the surrounding countryside. Then the photos continued in the getting ready, Avon room, where the bride was applying finishing touches in the company of her bridesmaids as well as the mother of the bride. What was great is a lot of personal touches throughout the day. One of them being the bride making her own bouquet. She is quite a florist!

The ceremony was beautiful and touching. The drinks reception was shortly after, which followed by the wedding breakfast. What made the wedding meal special was that the theme was an English picnic and the food was served in traditional picnic baskets.

I also loved the personal touches, like the table plan made out of different herbs, still growing in their pots and fully edible! The wedding speeches by the father of the bride, the groom and the best man were beautiful and moving as well as very funny!

In the evening Sopley Mill was beautifully lit creating almost a festive atmosphere, such a stunning Dorset wedding venue!

Thank you so much, Becky and Andy, for letting me document your beautiful Dorset wedding at the gorgeous Sopley Mill. It has been a true honour and pleasure, and so much fun!

Chelsea Old Town Hall Wedding Photography

Finally, I found a bit of time to post this awesome Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding I photographed on a beautiful Summer's day in London. When the bride and groom on the day called me beforehand and asked whether I would like to be their Chelse Old Town Hall wedding photographer, the answer could only be one. Of course!

I love wedding photography at the Chelsea Old Town Hall, it is such a beautiful building and it's location couldn't be more perfect. Just ideal for anyone who would like to get married in central London. I photographed many small to medium size weddings at this beautiful London wedding venue, and always love coming back.

Chelse Old Town Hall- London wedding venue

Chelse Old Town Hall is such a great choice if one wants to tie the knot in central London and wishes to create beautiful wedding photography in London.

The beautiful Grade II listed, late Victorian building is so beautiful, with its impressive facade and gorgeous steps walking out right onto the famous King's Road in Chelsea. These are just perfect for the confetti shot as well as a few official group photos after the ceremony. Right outside its door, it's the typical business and traffic of central London, with so many upmarket shops and high-quality pubs and restaurants. Many of them perfect to organise the wedding dinner right after the wedding ceremony at the Chelsea Register Office.

A few of them I would highly recommend that I photographed weddings at is the Ivy and the Bluebird. It's at the Bluebird that the bride and groom of this wedding hosted their wedding dinner for the closest family and friends. It took place in the Bluebird's function room overlooking the main restaurant giving a lovely view as well as lots of privacy for the wedding party.

I have to admit that inside the Old Chelsea Town Hall is just as impressive as on the outside. Especially after it was renovated now at the beginning of 2019. The beautiful Marble columns, high vaulted ornate ceilings and dark wood panelled walls.

All of this gives this London wedding venue and register office an atmosphere of grandeur and sophistication. Such a nice backdrop for

Chelsea Old Town Hall Rooms

Chelsea Old Town Hall now offers different rooms for your wedding needs, those include:

Main Hall

Late Victorian neo-classical architecture with its vaulted ceilings, marble columns, sprung wooden floor and cove lighting. The venue boasts original oil paintings and ornate wooden panelling and ironwork.

Small Hall

Light and airy room with lots of natural daylight. The ornate fireplace is an attractive feature within this richly decorated meeting place, ideal for marriages, luncheons, lectures, meetings and presentations

Cadogan Suite

The newly refurbished Cadogan Suite has recently been transformed into an intimate function room featuring an eclectic blend of contemporary and modern décor with the adjoining Ante Room which is perfect for a small breakout session or drinks reception.

Anti Room

The anti-room sits adjacent to Cadogan Room and is perfectly placed to receive guests for registration before a meeting/event or refreshment during the day.  It is equally suited to an intimate wedding ceremony after which the wedding breakfast or drinks may be hosted in the main room.  Together these rooms offer a host of flexible opportunities for the smooth running of tailored events.

The Chelsea Register Office Rooms

The Chelsea Register Office offers 3 different rooms for anyone looking to organise their civil ceremony there:

The Brydon Room

Classic interior with 40 people capacity.

The Rosetti Room

Lovely room with light lime green walls, perfect for intimate weddings with up to 14 people capacity.

The Harrington Room

Classy and cosy room with up to 10 people capacity.

Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding by London Wedding Photographer

The wedding of Chloe and Jonny was almost as London as a wedding can be. We covered so many different London Landmarks as locations and backdrops for our photos. It was such a great day!

The getting ready wedding photography started at the Shard. Until not so long ago the highest building in Europe, and still the highest one in the UK. As soon as I went into the room I saw the stunning views over the whole of London. With river Thames, Tower Bridge and London Bridge Station all below us.

After a few photos off we were to the Chelsea Old Town Hall for the wedding ceremony in the Chelse Register Office Brydon Room. The father and mother of the bride and groom were already there, as well as more family members and close friends.

The vows were beautiful and after the exchange of the rings and the first kiss we had the confetti shot outside as well as a few semi-formal group photos on the Chelse Old Town Hall steps.

Then we whisked off to the nearby Albert Bridge for a couple of photos with the bride and groom. It was so much fun to photograph those two simply being themselves! From the bridge, we went to Battersea Park for more photos. It must be one of my favourite parks in London to take wedding pictures, right by the river Thames.

After the park, we drove to Tower Bridge to get a photo with the bridge being up. Such a great photo moment for the happy couple.

We finished the wedding day photography almost where we started, by the London Bridge Station. That's where the evening party took place, right by the bridge, at the London Grind.

So we took a few photos of the speeches, the first dance at the cake cutting (awesome cheese board!).

The evening finished with a lot of crazy moves on the dancefloor, what a crazy and beautiful day it was.

Thank you Chloe and Jonny, for letting Blue Lily Weddings document your awesome London wedding!

hedingham castle wedding bride and groom posing with an owl

Hedingham Castle Wedding

Hedingham Castle Wedding Photographer

The recent wedding at Hedingham Castle in Essex I had a pleasure to photograph was so much fun!

Hedingham Castle is such a beautiful and unique wedding venue, no wonder it won quite a few awards for the best wedding venue in Essex. As soon as the bride and groom contacted me asking whether I wanted to photograph their wedding at Hedingham Castle I was like: yes, please!

The bride and groom on the day, Vicky and Craig, asked me to photograph their wedding in a pure documentary approach, which I was very happy to deliver. There was not even a couple shoot or any of the formal wedding group shots!

When photographing this beautiful wedding at Hedingham Castle I was shooting in my signature Blue Lily Weddings style. I documented things as they happened without intrusion letting the bride and groom, as well as their wedding guest, simply enjoy themselves. This way I could catch genuine moments with nothing being staged.

The goal was as always to create a set of beautiful wedding images telling a complete story of the day. I focused on making sure everyone looks great and catching all the interactions between the bride and groom as well as their wedding party and all the wedding guests.

This way we were able to create a set of photos that the couple will be proud to put in their wedding album as well as frames they can hang on the walls. These wedding photos will make them relive their wedding day and bring them back to those beautiful moments and emotions they felt on the day.

Looking for an Essex (or beyond!) wedding photographer?

Hedingham Castle Wedding Photos

Here is a selection of eighty-something wedding photos from this gorgeous Essex wedding at Hedingham Castle, enjoy!

Hedingham Castle-One of the Best Essex Wedding Venues

So a little bit more about the stunning wedding venue for the day -the Hedingham Castle. I have to admit I have always been a big fan of all sorts of castles and fortresses and this one is a prime example of it. The only thing that could have completed it is a dragon perching on the roof! It is simply perfect for anyone looking to get married in the area and looking for something special and with character.

The Hedingham Castle, located in the village of Castle Hedingham in Essex consist of two main parts. The whole wedding took place in the Norman Keep, which is the best-preserved structure of this type in England. The second part is the Georgian Mansion House surrounded by beautiful gardens.  The 900 year old Norman keep is right in the centre of a larger estate. It is right on a hill surrounded by woodland and lakes and acres of Essex countryside. Once you get to the top the view is simply breathtaking with fields and rolling hills all the way to the horizon.

It has five floors, all of which accessible via a spiral staircase. The day's wedding took place on the bottom three floors. The ceremony took place in the Banquetting Hall, the drinks reception and party took place in the main reception room and the wedding breakfast was downstairs in the basement/cellar part of the castle.

The Castle itself has a very rich history and featured in numerous films and TV programmes.

We started our Hedingham Castle wedding photography on the day by getting some nice images of the venue and surrounding grounds. The wedding guests were gathering for drinks before the ceremony in the stunning reception hall. The groom and his groomsmen were all wearing kilts on the day. That,  in my opinion, looked great and added to the overall vibe of the day.

After a few minutes, the guest gathered in the Main Hall for the wedding ceremony. Soon, Vicky, the bride arrived with her bridesmaids and entered the Hall, such an impressive room spanning over two stories.

The wedding ceremony was just beautiful with the highlight being the wedding ring delivery. It was done by a beautiful white owl which has flown from a second-floor balcony.

After the ceremony it was drinks and everyone getting merry. Then everyone went outside where alongside the ring-bearer owl were other birds of prey. It was so much fun seeing wedding guests interacting with the birds. Especially when Craig, the groom, was petting the falcon with his beard!

The wedding breakfast took place in the downstairs hall. It was set up in true medieval fashion, with metal wine goblets and torches on the walls. It really felt like a wedding feast of a King and Queen!

The food was delicious and after that, the wedding speeches were just as they should be moving and funny with lots of laughter and tears.

After that, the newlyweds cut the cake. The rest of the wedding took place upstairs with the first dance and the wedding party to the tunes of a wedding DJ. We finished the day off with the girls showing some serious moves on the dancefloor. At the same time, the groom and his friends went outside to smoke cigars and play football on the balcony.

Truly a special day for everyone who gathered!

Gosfield Hall Wedding

Last winter I had an enormous pleasure to be a Gosfield Hall wedding photographer. The wedding venue on the day where all the photography took place was the gorgeous Gosfield Hall, a grade 1 listed country estate in Gosfield, near Braintree.

As I love photographing weddings around Essex countryside I was really looking forward to this one at the multi-award-winning Gosfield Hall wedding venue, and I was not disappointed!

Essex wedding photographer

I approached my Gosfield Hall wedding photography on the day in my usual style. The main focus was to document the wedding day beautifully. I photographed things as they unfolded without intrusion or staging, only gentle guiding during group shots and the couple shoot to make sure we'll get the best lighting and angles to create frame-worthy photographs. The goal was making sure everyone looks their best and the couple will end up with a set of photos that will tell a complete story of their wedding day. This resulted in the photos that will stand the test of time and can be viewed with joy by the bride and groom and future generations. I always arrive early on the wedding day to take photographs of the wedding venue and also scout for good photo locations and good lighting later on. This gave me a good opportunity to get to know the impressive Essex wedding venue and its surroundings. The outside of the Gosfield Hall definitely does not disappoint. The Georgian manor house has a beautiful west facing Tudor facade and equally impressive (despite looking quite different) south facade overlooking green fields and a mile long lake at the bottom of the valley. Absolutely stunning architectural and natural features which made for great backdrops to the wedding photography on the day.

Best Essex Wedding Venue

The interiors of the Gosfield Hall wedding venue interiors were just as impressive as the exteriors. The atmosphere of grandeur and historical importance could be felt walking from room to room.  High ceilings, huge windows and gorgeous rooms with many historical features were just perfect for the wedding photos I took on the wedding day. I especially liked the entrance hall with gorgeous ceiling painting as well as the library with its dark timber walls and ornamented walls and ceilings. It is here that Queen Elisabeth the I visited frequently and king Louis the XVIII resided while escaping the French revolution.

But don't take my word on it. Have a look at this selection of Gosfield Hall wedding photos from the day and see for yourselves!

The bride and groom on the day were simply a couple of super nice people and so much in love. They made me feel very welcomed which helped to create a relaxed atmosphere for their wedding photos. They were surrounded by a group of like-minded wedding guests and the vibe throughout the wedding day was just full of laughter and positive emotions.

We started the photography with a few photos of the Gosfield Hall wedding venue. Then I spent some time photographing the bride getting ready surrounded by her bridesmaids as well as the mother of the groom. So a few pictures of the dress and the wedding shoes and the overall atmosphere and off I was to see the groom. He was in his room together with his best man and the father of the groom. There we took some nice photos of the buttonholes being applied and in no time there was a time for the wedding ceremony.

The wedding ceremony took place in the Queen Charlotte’s oak-panelled gallery, a 120-foot aisle just perfect for it. Gosfield Hall also has a carriageway which was recently licensed and is perfect for the outside wedding ceremonies on a sunny day. Or the Grand Salon is another impressive space in which the ceremony may take place, with its baby grand piano and beautiful hand-painted ceiling.

Gosfield Hall-a perfect wedding venue for your Essex wedding

Confetti photos took place right by the grand staircase of the Gosfield Hall. Then it was time for some group photos as well as a quick couple shoot with the bride and groom. The room for the wedding breakfast was Marquis of Buckingham former ballroom. It's grand setting with beautiful chandeliers and oaked pannels walls as well as gorgeous ornaments and large ivory marble fireplace made for beautiful backdrops to the Gosfield Hall photos on the day.

The wedding speeches were funny and moving and the food served for the wedding breakfast was delicious. After the photo of the bouquet toss and the cake cutting one of my favourite parts of Gosfield Hall wedding photography started- the party! After the first dance, the wedding guests took to the dancefloor and we got some great photos of everyone enjoying themselves performing crazy dance moves.

We finished the day with beautiful pictures of the wedding sparklers sendoff. All in all a perfect wedding day full of great wedding photography around one of the best Essex wedding venues, the multi-award-winning Gosfield Hall.

Which is very useful in being efficient and finding the best angles for your wedding photos. And also finding great photo locations nearby for a couple photo shoot or formal photos with bride and groom and their wedding guests.

Old Marylebone Town Hall Wedding Photos

The Old Marylebone Town Hall is just a perfect venue for anyone who is looking to getting married in central London. Its location is great, right by the Marylebone underground station and many London landmarks like Madame Tussauds, Sherlock Holmes museum or Regent's Park.
Location close to Regent's Park is especially useful, as the park is perfect for photography right after the ceremony. With its beautiful landscapes, greenery and water features it makes for a beautiful backdrop for wedding photos.

Intimate Wedding in Central London

The wedding of Ronnie and Steve was simply beautiful. The bride and groom, as well as their wedding guest, couldn't be more accommodating to me. We had a great time in joyful and fun atmosphere throughout the day. The rainy weather certainly did not dampen the moods and I think we managed to use it to our advantage, using umbrellas as props and getting some nice lighting and reflection for the images.
From the email I received from Ronnie the next day:

'Just wanted to say thank you so much for Tuesday everyone commented on how nice you were to have around and you managed to make the awful conditions work!'

Below-a small selection of Old Marylebone Town Hall wedding photos from other ceremonies I photographed at this beautiful venue

First one is a beautiful multi-cultural winter wedding of Tom and Sophia. That time we were lucky with the weather but it was dark right after the wedding ceremony so we went for the couple shoot as well as the family photos, right before the interview with the registrar.

The second Old Marylebone wedding in this set of photos was Rob and Isabelle's, and here are a few words from the bride after I delivered the photos:

Thank you so much for capturing our special day, we particularly love the Regent’s Park photos, the willow tree shots are amazing!
Look forward to working with you next year and all the best with your wedding!
And yes, I'll be photographing their main wedding part later this year in beautiful Castle Combe. This time it will be for over 100 wedding guests!

Old Marylebone Town Hall Wedding Venue

The Old Marylebone Town Hall has been fully refurbished and reopened just last year and already it is very busy with weddings and civil ceremonies.

It has 7 beautiful rooms, tastefully prepared and decorated with plush furniture and dark wood walls and ceilings. There are many other gorgeous features like beautiful mantlepieces and a lot of attention to detail in all the decor and ornaments.  All that paired with really gorgeous lighting inside all the rooms creates a perfect backdrop to beautiful wedding photography. The atmosphere of historical grandeur just adds to the overall feel of the Old Marylebone Town Hall.

The Old Marylebone Town Hall boasts 7 rooms in which civil marriage ceremonies are taking place. All of them with its own character and catering for different needs with a different number of wedding guests that they can accommodate.

In 2014 Old Marylebone Old Town Hall closed for major renovation and refurbishment has reopened at the beginning of 2018 for couples wanting to marry in this gorgeous venue.

Both exterior and interior of the building have been brought back to its former glory, with impressive columns and beautiful statue lions (check the photos above!)

Old Marylebone Town Hall  Wedding Ceremony Rooms

The seven ceremony rooms have different capacities which go as follows:

Mayfair Room – 30 capacity with warm interior and velvet burgundy seats.
Pimlico Room – 20 capacity with dark blue velvet seats and pale green walls.
Paddington Room – 15 capacity with green velvet armchairs and beautiful wood panelling as well as carved wood fireplaces.
Westminster Room – 100 capacity with wood panelling on the walls and beautiful ceiling.
Marylebone Room – 15 capacity with wood panelling on the walls and silver grey chairs.
Soho Room – 20 capacity mirroring Pimlico room with less formal sitting.
Knightsbridge Room – capacity 30 with dark green velvet chairs for more formal occasions.

The Old Marylebone Town Hall is a truly spectacular wedding venue. I think anyone choosing to say their I do's there will be happy with their decision.

If your wedding date is already booked, however, you may want to consider Islington Town Hall or  Chelsea Old Town Hall, both excellent registry offices in central London. You can check my recent blog post from beautiful Islington Town Hall wedding here.

I would love to have a chat and see whether I can be of service and help you create beautiful wedding photographs from your wedding day!

tewin bury farm wedding

Tewin Bury Farm Wedding

Tewin Bury Farm Wedding Photographer

Recently I had an enormous pleasure and honour to be a Hertfordshire wedding photographer and photograph a beautiful wedding of Gemma and Aaron at the magical Tewin Bury Farm.

The wedding venue on the day was the beautiful Tewin Bury Farm, situated in picturesque Hertfordshire countryside. Right by the Welwyn Garden City. Tewin Bury Farm is just a perfect wedding venue and a true joy for any wedding photographer who wants to capture the wedding day of his newlywed couple in a beautiful way. The farm, which is also an excellent hotel, consist of uniquely converted barn building situated along river Mimram. The river flows just by the farm through structures of a rustic mill.
All that creates some beautiful backdrops for gorgeous wedding photography.

Tewin Bury Farm Wedding Photography

I started the wedding photography on the day in the bride and groom's place, where the bride was getting ready in the company of her bridesmaids as well as the mother of the bride. From the first reactions and overall atmosphere I knew it is going to be an awesome wedding day!
After we snapped a few photos of the preparations, opening and pouring the champagne, off I was to the ceremony venue. Which was St Peter's church in St Albans.
The ceremony went smoothly and was just perfect. With the father of the bride walking her down the aisle, the vows, exchange of the rings an of course first kiss we had all the formal parts of the wedding ceremony covered. The bride and groom also signed the register and the whole ceremony was simply joyful and moving.
After the ceremony, we took a few formal photos just by the church. After that most wedding guests, bride and groom included, got on the wedding special edition red bus.
The red wedding bus is such a great feature and is a great mode of transport during weddings. It can sit so many people and has lots of character. And they serve champagne on board!

Tewin Bury Farm Wedding Photos

After everyone arrived at the Tewin Bury Farm wedding venue, the fun part of the day was getting started. After canapes and drinks reception in the bar, everyone moved slowly to the red brick walled stables, where the wedding breakfast took place.
The speeches were funny and moving, bringing many wedding guests to tears. Then there was time for delicious dishes served during the wedding breakfast. There also was a traditional cake cutting with gingerbread men decorated wedding cake.
I photographed all those essential parts of the wedding in my signature natural and unobtrusive style. Just documenting things as they happened to create a story of the day in a documentary fashion. The first dance was fun to photograph as I could get up on one of the balconies and get a nice view from above.

The wedding photography finished in spectacular fashion with petting and feeding of reindeers and some beautiful wedding sparklers action!

Here is a selection of photos from the wedding day of Jemma and Aaron at the lovely Tewin Bury Farm. Enjoy!

I always enjoy photographing wedding in and around Hertfordshire. This county has so many beautiful wedding venues surrounded by beautiful countryside. It is always great to come back to create some gorgeous wedding photography.

Tewin Bury Farm is definitely no exception. The venue is so beautiful and is truly a full package for anyone looking to organise their wedding in Hertfordshire. It is also perfect for wedding photos with its historic barn buildings surrounded by nature.

The wedding of Jemma and Aaron was a true joy to photograph. The wedding couple, as well as their families and wedding guests, were just a bunch of down to earth people. They celebrated this wedding day in an atmosphere of family love and joy and happiness.
The bride and groom had their little baby boy with them throughout the day. This was just perfect for my style of photography. As a father of two and soon three I love photographing babies and kids and their connection to their parents.

Special features of this lovely wedding venue include its beautiful solid oak floor, a minstrels’ gallery overlooking the reception venue, and a nice walk-way bridge over the river, which takes you and your wedding party onto your own private patio and meadow overlooking the River Mimram.

Tythe Barn

Tythe Barn has also its own private bar area and can fit up to 250 wedding guests for party and dancing and up to 160 guests for a sit-down meal. The light entering the barn from both sides creates the perfect lighting for beautiful wedding photos.

Red Brick Stable

Another gorgeous building of the Tewin Bury Farm is the 17th-century red brick stable. This is where most of the wedding photography on the day took place. The wedding drinks as well as the cake cutting, the first dance and the dancing to the tunes of a wedding band all took place in the red brick stable building.

The Millstream Suite

The millstream Suite sits on a first floor overlooking the river Mimram. This is such a great space as it has a wooden pagoda for an outside wedding ceremony as well as its own private garden. It also has a view over wildlife bird sanctuary as well as a water meadow. Its capacity is 60 people for sit down meal and up to 100 wedding guests for an evening dancing and party.

The Meadow Barn

Because of its neutral decor, it can be set up according to the bride and groom wishes, creating a more personal atmosphere for larger weddings.
The Meadow Barn is licensed for indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies, with the Riverside Garden as a perfect addition for drinks reception and photos. It is also powered by solar panels making it a great choice for anyone looking for a more eco friendly wedding venue.

To summarise Tewin Bury Farm wedding venue really has it all. From large spaces to smaller ones suitable for more intimate weddings. Brighton Wedding Photographer-Pangdean Barn Wedding 1

Brighton Wedding Photographer-Pangdean Barn Wedding

Wedding photography Brighton

I recently photographed a beautiful wedding at the Pangdean Old Barn near Brighton. What a beautiful wedding venue and a great wedding day, as a Brighton wedding photographer I couldn't have wished for anything more!

As I photographed a few weddings before in Brighton and always enjoyed it, I knew this one will be no exception. Brighton is such a great location for a wedding. It has its seaside resort town charm and it is just an hour away from London.
Its broad shingle beach always makes for a great backdrop for photos of the bride and groom. Or the wedding itself if it's held at the beach or the beautiful beach bandstand. I actually photographed a wedding at the Brighton bandstand before and it was simply beautiful.
Brighton Pier is also a nice feature and an icon and symbol of Brighton that is always great for photography on the wedding day.
Its waterfront is also backed by many grand regency-era buildings with windows overlooking the sea.

Pangdean Barn Wedding

The wedding reception venue for the day was the beautiful Pangdean Old Barn, located just outside of Brighton. The wedding ceremony took place at St Peters Church, right in the centre of town. It is a beautiful old church, which was recently modernised to more accommodating for worshippers, which was quite interesting.

The reception for the day-the Pangdean Old Barn was just perfect for a mid-size to a large wedding. It is located just minutes drive from Brighton in the Sussex South Downs National Park. It is situated against the backdrop of rolling hills of the South Down and is a working farm with many different building and locations. All great for wedding photos.
The Pangdean Barn is situated right in the middle of it. It has been recently restored and is a type of a magnificent oak-framed barn. It was definitely perfect for our wedding photography. The intimate feel of the wedding venue created a lovely atmosphere throughout the day. The bride and groom, as well as the bridesmaids and groomsmen and all the wedding guests,  enjoyed the whole wedding from start to finish. And thanks to that we were able to create some beautiful wedding photography.

Here is a selection of Brighton and Pangdean Old Barn photos from the wedding day

I've mentioned a bit about the Pangdean Old Barn wedding venue as well as being a wedding photographer in Brighton.
Now a few words about the wedding day itself. The bright and groom on the day were Tom and Ruth. They are simply a couple of super down to earth people working to help others on a daily basis. The fact that their little baby daughter was with them throughout the wedding day just made the whole experience of photographing their wedding more special and interesting.
One thing worth mentioning is that they had little to no sleep previous night as all three were down with flu.
And yet they managed to look absolutely gorgeous on their wedding in Brighton and the stunning wedding venue the Pangdean Old Barn.

Brighton Wedding Photos

So the day started at the bride and grooms house when the bride to be was getting ready. She was accompanied by her bridesmaids as well as the father and mother of the bride, and other friends and family members. The atmosphere was simply awesome, full of wedding day love, business and chaos!
First I snapped a few images of the bride to be preparing for the day. Then off I was to the ceremony venue-the grand St Peters Church in Brighton. The wedding ceremony was just perfect for wedding photography, great light and a lot of emotional moments, as well as plenty of laughs!
After the ceremony, we took the newlyweds to the Brighton beach to take a few quick photos right by the famous bandstand. The sun was out and the love and connection between the new bride and groom was clearly visible. A true pleasure to photograph!

Pangdean Old Barn wedding venue

After that, we all ventured to the wedding reception venue of the day-the Pangdean Old Barn. That's where the newlyweds were greeted by all their wedding guests and family with champagne and delicious canapes.
The rest of the wedding day went smoothly filled with positive emotions and laughter.
Some of the favourite moments were the groom's speech which was simply beautiful and emotional. It brought most of the wedding guests to tears, especially the bride.

It is worth mentioning that the staff was professional and attentive and the food throughout the day was simply delicious.
The table wedding decor was based on old classic American action movies, like die hard for example. Another interesting thing was the wedding cake bake-off between the bridesmaids and best men and ushers. There could only be one winner-girls took it hands down!
The wedding party after dinner was just perfect. It started with the first dance as well as the cake cutting. And finished with an amazing performance by the wedding band. At some point, all the wedding guests on the dancefloor went full on, singing and dancing to some classic power ballads using all sorts of inflatable props. But please do not take my word on it, just check it out in the wedding photos!
I finished my Pangdean Old Barn wedding photography late in the evening, tired but with a big smile on my face. That was a truly beautiful and emotional wedding day!

Thank you so much, Tom and Ruth, for letting me and the Blue Lily Weddings document your gorgeous wedding for you, I enjoyed every minute of it!

London Wetland Centre Wedding

London Wetland Centre Wedding Photographer

Recently I had an enormous pleasure of being a London Wetland Centre wedding photographer at a beautiful wedding of Nicola and Jackson. As I photographed a wedding at this lovely London wedding venue before I knew it is going to be a great experience.

Also, because we had our pre-wedding engagement shoot at the London Wetland Centre a few weeks prior with the bride and groom, I knew it is going to be an awesome day in a great company. And I wasn't mistaken!

Wetland Centre Wedding Photos

Here is the set of London Wetland Centre wedding photos from that day. What I really loved about photographing this wedding is the beautiful light in the ceremony room. As well as the whole surrounding of the Wetland Centre itself with beautiful greenery and wast lakes reflecting the colour of the sky.

I photographed this wedding in my signature London wedding photographer documentary approach, catching mostly real, unposed images in a natural and unobtrusive way.

The wedding day started in a nearby hotel when the bride was getting ready with her bridesmaids. There we got some nice photos of them as well as the mother of the bride and the flower girl getting ready.

From there it was off to the main wedding venue of the day: the London Wetland Centre. Jackson, the groom was already there greeting arriving wedding guests gathering in the ceremony room. After a few photographs with his best man and ushers, I took also a couple of photos of the bride with her girls and father of the bride too.

Wedding Photography London

The wedding ceremony took place in the Wetland Centre Observatory Room. After the vows, I dos and of course the first kiss we took some of the group photos and the confetti shot in the Wetland Centre grounds. Then the bride and groom took a bit of time for themselves and went for a walk around the beautiful surroundings of the Wetland Centre. We used that time for some beautiful wedding couple photos.

The rest of the day went smoothly and according to plan. There was a delicious wedding breakfast served in the Water's Edge Room after which both the bride and the groom, as well as the father of the bride and the best man, gave moving and funny speeches.

The day finished with the first dance and then some crazy dancefloor moves to the tunes of a wedding band. It was simply perfect!

Thank you so much, Nicola and Jackson, for letting me be your London Wetland Centre wedding photographer.

Islington Town Hall Wedding Photographer

Islington Town Hall Wedding Photography

I just love being Islington Town Hall wedding photographer. This iconic London building on fashionable Upper Street is simply perfect for anyone looking to get married in London. Islington Town Hall is also great for a wedding photographer who wants to create beautiful memories for his newlywed couples and simply achieve beautiful wedding photography in London.

I photographed many weddings at Islington Town Hall and enjoyed every one of them. This stunning wedding venue, or should I say a civil ceremony London venue, has so much to offer.

The great thing about Islington Town Hall is that you can create beautiful wedding photography there and because it has four different rooms to offer for civil ceremonies. It is like being a wedding photographer at completely different wedding venue each time you are photographing in a different room, whether it is the Council Chamber, the Room Ninety Nine, Mayors Parlour or the Richmond Room.

Islington Town Hall Wedding Photos by London Wedding Photographer

The recent beautiful wedding of Lauren and Matt at the Islington Town Hall Richmond Room was no exception. The bride and groom of the day looked simply stunning. They were also such relaxed and down to earth newlyweds. They were surrounded by a lovely group of their wedding guests with bridesmaids, ushers and best man leading the way. I knew from the start it will be a great day with many beautiful wedding photos to show for it!

I approached my Islington Town Hall wedding photography in my typical photojournalistic style. I was photographing in an unobtrusive, documentary style, quietly observing situations as they unfolded and photographing all those important key moments. As well as documenting all the emotion, connection and interaction of the wedding day. The few exceptions were the few family portraits as well as a few intimate, more romantic photos of the bride and groom around the interiors of the Islington Town Hall.

But don't take my word on it. Feel free to browse through my selection of Islington Town Hall wedding photos below.

Islington Town Hall - A Perfect Place For Your Wedding in London

For anyone looking to get married in London, Islington Town Hall is one of the best choices out there. Whether its small or large wedding ceremony. As a London wedding photographer, I couldn't recommend this venue enough. Its central location is perfect with easy access for anyone living in or around London.

It's marble staircase as well as beautiful interiors make for some of the nicest backdrops to wedding photographs.

One of the best features of the Islington Town Hall is the choice of rooms it offers for the wedding ceremonies.

The largest of the rooms, The Council Chamber can host up to a 100 people downstairs and an additional 60 in the upstairs balcony section. It makes it ideal for large weddings with all your family and friends.

The next one is Room 99, with slightly smaller, but also very beautiful interior.

The best room in Islington Town Hall for smaller, up to 12 people wedding ceremonies is the Mayors Parlour. Small as it is absolutely beautiful and grand, with beautiful ornaments, fireplace and luxurious furniture. It has so much charm and character simply ideal for more intimate weddings. It is here where we sneaked in for a couple of wedding photos with the bride and groom as it is right next door to the room when they got married.

The last room where our wedding ceremony took place is the Richmond Room. It hosts s up to 60 people and was just perfect for Lauren and Matt's wedding. It has a long aisle and large picture windows that let in a lot of light which was just ideal for the wedding photographs.

Wedding Ceremony at Islington Town Hall Combined with Wedding Reception in a Nearby Pub

Another great thing is the Islington Town Hall is right in the middle of busy Angel and Islington, with its many gastro pubs and restaurants. Most of them can be easily and affordably hired to host a wedding reception. You can find a perfect wedding venue in the area for 10 as well over 100 guests.

Or if you are looking to host a party of a few hundred guests, there is the Islington Assembly Hall for hire just right next door!

That was also the case when I photographed this London wedding. After the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom, as well as their wedding guests, were transported a little bit further afield. The wedding drinks and the wedding reception took place at the Brookmill in Deptford in south-east London. The location was just perfect. The pub itself was great for the wedding party with its outside space as well as a spacious function room with windows letting in a lot of light from both directions. Which was great for wedding photography on the day.

Summer London Wedding Photography Using Natural Light

I photographed this London summer wedding using natural light throughout the day. That is I think the best approach to wedding photography documenting all the wedding events and guest and showing them exactly as they were.

The wedding day photography started at the bride and grooms home in Crystal Palace. I was very familiar with this part of London as I use to live just around the corner! So little bit of make-up, many hugs and kisses from the bridesmaids as well as the mother and father of the bride. After that, it was off to Islington Town hall for the wedding ceremony.

The groom was already there with his ushers and best man, greeting arriving wedding guests. The ceremony at the Richmond Room was simply beautiful, so many emotional moments! After saying their wedding vows and the first kiss we took a few minutes for a couple of wedding photos with just the bride and groom in the Mayors Palor as well as in the corridors of the Islington Town Hall. The light and framing is just such a great backdrop for wedding photos. And Matt and Lauren were amazing, their love just shone in the pictures.

After that, it was the traditional confetti on the outside steps. After which we all moved to the Brookmill for the wedding drinks and reception. The wedding breakfast was delicious, the wedding speeches were so emotional, just check the photos!

There was also a homemade wedding cake and many of the wedding table decorations were made by bride and grooms family and friends. The flower decorations and bride and bridesmaids bouquets were provided by awesome Floral Hues.

We even managed to go for a stroll with newlyweds to a nearby Brookmill park to take some late afternoon photos in the golden light of the setting sun. The timing was just perfect!

Thank you so much, Lauren and Matt, for letting me be your London wedding photographer. It was a great honour and pleasure and I enjoyed every minute of it.
