Rong and Sam Chinese English Wedding at Kensington Roof Gardens, London

London Kensington Roof Gardens Wedding Photographer

Rong and Sam’s Chinese English wedding at Kensington Roof Gardens was my second one in this beautiful venue in the space of seven days. This put a smile on my face as I was familiar with the whole layout, access and most importantly very polite and helpful manager and staff.

The Roof Gardens, right in the heart of busy Kensington High Street area is a truly unique venue. Open to public in 1938 and owned by Sir Richard Branson from 1981, it’s an amazing events space, restaurant and private members club.

Just a few steps after leaving the elevator I was greeted by a lush garden full of greenery, blooming flowers, ducks and ducklings (super cute) and… wait for it: live pink flamingos!

The gorgeous Chinese bride Rong was getting ready with her mum and bridesmaids in the Moo room while Sam was greeting the gathering guests.

The whole wedding was a mixture of an English and Chinese cultures which in itself was a great and interesting experience.

After the ceremony, congratulations and confetti under garden’s arches, the wedding breakfast commenced in a square surrounded by garden walls with overhanging flowers and plants.

A great part of the day was the wedding couple changing into traditional Chinese red wedding clothes beautifully stitched with flower, bird and dragon motifs with groom putting brides shoes on, apparently as it should be :). A nice surprise, especially for English part of the guests and family.

What I found most special about the day (apart from the glorious weather) was seeing two people so deeply in love and two wedding traditions mixing so beautifully together.

Sam and Rong, thank you for having me. It has been a true honour and pleasure to be a part of your special day. x
